    Regular CTE Courses offered at Somerset High School


    Students will learn to use SolidWorks, the next generation of 3D CAD software. SolidWorks is a fully editable solid-modeling CAD software used to produce 3D drawings of solid models. The course will start by first discussing 2D entities, then gradually creating 3D solid models and then finally integrating those models into an assembly. The student will also learn how to extract drawing views from 3D solid models. Taught by Julio Guzman

    Graphic Production Technologies (10)
    Students will learn the basic fundamentals of designing logos, textiles, digital art and photo manipulation for individual portfolios. Projects will be designed to enhance students understanding of graphic design and illustration for various types of media and careers in the Industry. Also, student will be able to create motion using 2D and 3D illusion and multi-media in the entertainment business.  Taught by Brian Ahumada

    WOODS/ADVANCED WOODS (5)
    These electives and/or practical arts class gives students the opportunity to create a wide variety of projects out of wood. Students learn the correct usage of many different tools in building their projects as well as being taught the safety rules that apply to using equipment in the wood shop.
    (Prerequisite for Woods: Industrial Arts) Taught by Brian Ahumada

    BUSINESS SKILLS/COMPUTER APPLICATIONS (5)
    Students learn and practice basic keyboarding skills, as well as the basic hardware of computers. Students are exposed to various software programs such as WordPerfect, Word, Excel, and Access. Additional activities include the usage of graphics and publishing software and an introduction to the usage of the Internet. This course is a graduation requirement at Somerset High School. Students who return to their home schools have these credits converted to electives. Taught by Abel Macias
